Itineraries

Day 1

Vagar Island

We fly to Vágar Island, where we meet and enjoy lunch together.

At sunset, we visit one of the most iconic places in the Faroe Islands: the Bøsdalafossur Waterfall and Leitisvatn Lake. This lake famously appears to meet the ocean, creating a breathtaking natural spectacle.

We will also visit the Múlafossur Waterfall, a site that looks like it belongs in a fairy tale. The waterfall cascades from lush green fields, creating a scene so enchanting it feels like stepping into a Scandinavian paradise.

Day 2

Mykines island

We embark on a 45-minute sea journey to the island of Mykines, passing by two unique sea rock formations, Dranganir, and the beautiful island of Tindhólmur. Mykines is home to the only village on the island, sharing the same name. Despite having more than 40 houses, the village has just 11 permanent residents.

Upon arrival on the island, we set out on a 4-hour trek to Mount Knukur (560 m). Mykines is truly an extraordinary destination, offering everything that unspoiled nature has to provide. The island is teeming with thousands of wild seabirds, including puffins, shearwaters, fulmars, kittiwakes, gannets, and many more, along with a variety of land birds that call the island home.

After this incredible experience, we return to the island of Vágar and continue our journey to the island of Streymoy.

Day 3

Suðuroy island

On this day, we explore the island of Suðuroy, one of the largest and most scenic islands in the Faroe Islands. As we wander across its grassy terrain, we may encounter remnants of history, including World War II bunkers, old shipwrecks, abandoned coal mines, lighthouses overlooking the Atlantic, and various other fascinating landmarks.

We arrive at the village of Tverøyri after a 2-hour ferry ride and begin a trek (approximately 1.5 hours one way) to Hvannhagi and Lake Hvannavatn, considered one of the most beautiful and unique locations in the Faroe Islands.

We will then admire the famous coastal scenery and take a walk along Eggjarnar, where we’ll marvel at the waves crashing against rocky cliffs, towering 200 m (656 ft) above the North Atlantic. Standing at the edge of this steep, almost vertical precipice, the dramatic beauty of the ocean below is truly awe-inspiring.

We’ll also visit Beinisvørð, the iconic cliffs proudly depicted on the Faroese 50-kroner banknote, offering another spectacular vantage point.

After an unforgettable day, we return to the island of Streymoy.

Day 4

Streymoy Island

Streymoy is the largest of the 18 Faroe Islands. Located in the center of the country, it accounts for 24% of the total territory and is home to 45% of the entire population, most of whom live in the capital, Tórshavn.

After breakfast, we head to the tiny village of Saksun, nestled on the shore of a tranquil lagoon. Protected from storms by the edge of the fjord and surrounded by towering mountains, this village exudes a unique charm. Ancient stone houses with traditional sod roofs add to its special atmosphere. In ancient times, when the residents of Saksun wanted to visit the church, they had to walk to the nearby village of Tjørnuvík.

We will also visit Tjørnuvík, traveling back in time as we explore this picturesque village. Located in a stunning harbor surrounded by mountain peaks, Tjørnuvík boasts breathtaking views that are truly unparalleled.

Afterward, we visit the Fossa Waterfall, one of the highest and most impressive waterfalls in the Faroe Islands, where nature’s beauty is on full display.

Day 5

Streymoy Island, capital Tórshavn

This day is dedicated to exploring the heart of the Faroe Islands – the capital, Tórshavn.

We begin at the bustling harbor, divided by Tinganes, an ancient settlement that served as a historical seat of power. This small, charming area is filled with tiny tarred houses with traditional sod roofs, creating a unique atmosphere.

Take a leisurely stroll through the streets of Reyn and Undir Ryggi, where 14th-century houses are still inhabited today. The walk offers a glimpse into the enduring traditions and history of the Faroese way of life.

We will also visit The Nordic House, the Faroese cultural hub, showcasing the art, music, and heritage of the islands.

Optionally, we can explore St. Magnus Cathedral, built in the 1300s. Once the seat of power for several centuries, this small but historically significant site was a cultural and episcopal center during the Middle Ages.
